The University of Reading and the Ashmolean Museum will host a fully funded AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Partnership studentship. The project will explore the production and circulation of metalwork in the middle and upper Thames Valley during the Iron Age in Britain using an integrated characterisation approach. This will link chemical analysis, small finds study, and archaeology. The successful applicant will shape the project based on their interests and will benefit from the research strengths and collections of both institutions. The project will lead to a re-evaluation of Iron age technology, and will develop new ways to connect science and museum collections.
