People of Norway is an unprecedented initiative combining large-scale genomic data with highly interdisciplinary analysis to reveal the fine-scale genetic and cultural history of the Norwegian population. Due to the influence of Norwegian migration throughout history, its findings will provide insights across both national and international scopes. The foci of the project are: i) how current populations in Norway are shaped by past population structure and dynamics; ii) the relationship with geographically neighbouring populations; iii) coupling between genetic structure and prevalence of cultural and linguistic features in the population iv) the effect of demographic changes on genetic structuring v) improving accounting for genetic structure in medical association studies and precision medicine strategies. The successful candidate will perform genetic structure analyses on the Norwegian Mother, Father, and Child cohort, and relate findings to comparable northwest Eurasian datasets on current and past populations. The candidate’s work will further focus on a selection of the above project goals.
