The position is located at the Institute for Archaeological Sciences within the framework of the Ancient Biomolecule Central Laboratory of the Cluster of Excellence Human Origins. A sub-unit of this Central Laboratory generates genetic data from archaeological materials, including human, animal, and sediment remains. Our research focuses on prehistoric human populations, the evolution of animals, microbes and the change in ecosystems through time. For the analysis of ancient DNA, we use modern techniques of high-throughput sequencing and targeted DNA enrichment using various DNA hybridization techniques. Applicants for this position should have an interest in questions from the fields of human evolution and archaeological sciences.
